Holy Spirit Fellowship is an open and affirming congregation. Anyone (gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered) is welcome to attend our services, and |
share in communion, fellowship and worship. Our only wish is that everyone seek a closer personal relationship with God.
You may stand in awe of God, but our faith and experience tell us that He is nothing to fear. We are known as "a family of love" and we truly are. We greet each other with hugs, pray for one another, and care deeply for one another. It is the love we have for each other and for God that gives us the security to abandon our worldly baggage enough to develop that close |
|
| relationship. We are a non-denominational charismatic Christian church. That means we believe in the gifts of the Spirit. Some of us speak in tongues, some interpret and others prophesy, etc. We started as a "home church" in 1993 and our church office is at North Long Beach Christian Church (NLBCC) as is our worship service on |

|
(see the above address) Saturday at 6 PM. Our
Tuesday evening Prayer/Praise/Bible Study is at
7 PM at Bixby Knolls Christian Church (BKCC).
Both churches are located in Long Beach (click on
the Bible Study link or Directions link for more
information about our services). We have an audio
tape ministry in place. Our choir and outreach |
| programs are outlined on other pages, accessible with the links at the left or bottom of this page. For further information or questions click on the E-mail.link on this page. Come worship with us. |
From its' inception, Duane Moret, has been the Pastor of Holy Spirit Fellowship. He has a diverse religious background, having traveled many paths while on his spiritual journey. He has been an educator in area schools. He acts as counselor to those in need of advice or just an ear. He was an Associate Pastor for MCC (Metropolitan Community Church) before starting Holy Spirit Fellowship. He has led, started and been a member of several local community groups to create dialogue and to combat prejudice
while promoting acceptance for diversity in religion and sexual |
|
orientation. He really accepts God's will in His life and it shows. Click on our Outreach link and you will see Duane's commitment to serve in print. He has spearheaded all those programs and still found time to sing in our choir. Beyond his community work, he is a really nice guy with a great sense of humor and a wonderful voice. It has been his willingness to love and care about this congregation as God does that created "a family of love". |
In the middle of each October, Holy Spirit Fellowship partakes in the "fall classic" and we're not talking baseball. For one weekend (Friday night to Sunday afternoon) HSF invades Prince of Peace Abbey in Oceanside for our annual retreat. We hold workshops and worship services, and share a lot of fellowship. We're not known as "a family of love" for nothing. With long walks and plenty of rest, you have |

|
the perfect recipe for peace and rejuvenation. This
wouldbe a blessing in itself but when you add in the
Abbey and its' spirit, the monks' fellowship and
wonderfulcooking, the comfort of the accommodations
and the beauty of the grounds, you realize that God
wants much more for you than your imagination could
fathom. We have a healing service at each retreat but the |
| weekend itself is one long healing service. We have a fundraiser each June to help anyone in need pay for the retreat tuition, which is an incredible value in itself. Click on our e-mail link for further information or visit our link's page to access the Abbey's web site. It's hard to believe that the monks built most of it themselves. Come recharge with us. |
